About the school:
Coláiste an Chreagáin takes great pride in its strong tradition of academic excellence across a variety of educational programmes, while also offering a wide range of extracurricular opportunities to support student interests and personal growth. Sports and extra curricular activites include but are not limited to: Soccer, Gaelic football, Camogie, Swimming, Athletics, Golf, Volleyball, Debating, Book club, green school etc.
As an integral part of the wider local community, they encourage their students to grow not only as confident individuals but also as active, responsible members of a caring and inclusive school. They strive to foster a sense of citizenship and belonging, preparing students to thrive in an ever-evolving and sometimes challenging world.
At Coláiste an Chreagáin, they work in partnership with students, parents, the Board of Management, and the Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board to create a learning environment where excellence in teaching and learning is a shared goal. They are committed to equipping students with the skills needed to succeed in the 21st century. They have had a number of new developments in the school over the past few years, with a brand new Science Laboratory block being built in 2021.
The school believes every student is unique, with individual talents and potential. Their aim is to support, encourage, and challenge them to be the best they can be—academically, socially, and personally. High expectations in both academic achievement and behaviour are upheld within a nurturing and respectful atmosphere. It is this balance that defines this school’s proud heritage. They offer a great SEN (Special Educational Needs) department with excellent support for students in need of extra attention and care.
